As a believer, how do you know if you’re living your life as though you are completely complete in Christ? Measure your life against God’s standard found in Colossians 3:15-17.
1. Let the Peace of Christ Rule Your Heart (Colossians 3:15)
• What is the peace of Christ?
- It is the peace of being saved and secure in Christ. (John 1:12; Romans 10:9-10, 13; John 14:27; Romans 5:1)
- It is the peace of the presence of Christ. (Hebrew 13:5)
• What are we to do with the peace of Christ? (Matthew 28:20)
- Let it rule in our hearts.
- Rule means “counsel” or “control.”——->umpire
• How does this peace affect you?
- You are controlled by the Spirit, not your circumstances.
2. Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly (Colossians 3:16)
• How do you let the Word dwell richly within you?
- Read God’s Word.
- Meditate on God’s Word. (Joshua 1:8)
- Memorize God’s Word. (Psalm 119:11)
- Obey God’s Word.
• What happens if the Word dwells richly in you? (Colossians 3:15)
- You are filled with God’s wisdom.
- You are ready to teach and admonish others.
- You have a thankful song in your heart.
3. Do Everything for the Glory of Christ (Colossians 3:17)
• What is to be done in His name?
- All we say – “word”
- All we do – “deed”
- Everything
• What does it mean to do all in His name?
- Give the right opinion of Christ. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
- Act consistently with who Christ is and what Christ wants.(1 Peter 2:21)
- Bring glory to Christ with thanksgiving.
